Random Musings: Thoughts, Reflections, and Oddities That Cross My Mind #1
Christmas time is fast approaching. I still have to get a few more gifts. Nothing else is really new. Just working and spending time with the family otherwise. I’ve also started playing World of Warcraft again. This expansion (The War Within) is really good. I like the aesthetics. Now that it’s cold outside I figured why not play for a while? It’s that or watch TV. At least it doesn’t cost much. Evie’s violin winter orchestra concert is next week and that will be fun to attend. Winter break starts in less than two weeks also.

Escape to Tranquility: Unwinding in a Cozy Cabin Getaway
The family and I had a wonderful time at the cabin. It was great to get away from the busy life and not have to worry about anything for a few days. I had a great time creating wonderful moments and memories with my family. We had so much fun that is was kind of sad to leave. I’m sure that’s pretty normal. The cabin was nicely decorated in a Northwoods outdoor style. I definitely enjoyed the outdoor vibe. Even though the weather was in the teens outside, with our wood burning stove, our cabin stayed warm and toasty. I can’t wait to see what adventure the family and I will take next.

Cilantro Lime Rice
I found this copy cat recipe of Chipotle’s famous cilantro lime rice online. It turned out really well. Evie had two servings! I will absolutely be making this again. Here is the link to the recipe I used. It’s also pasted below.
Lime Cilantro Rice
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup long-grain white rice
1 tablespoon butter
½ cup chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon lime zest
Directions
1. Gather all ingredients.
2. Bring water and salt to a boil in a small saucepan. Stir in rice and butter. 3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
4. Just before serving, add cilantro, lime juice, and lime zest.
5. Enjoy!

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson
I resubscribed to Netflix yesterday after lunch to watch the fight later in the evening. Turns out, like a lot of other people, the livestream was having issues buffering. This morning I called customer service at 866-579-7172 (USA) and got a full refund.Netflix is definitely not ready to livestream sports events that are in high demand. If this was a pay-per-view there would be no issue.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
On Saturday, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), I went to the cemetery to visit family that had passed away. I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful stained glass windows in the mausoleum.

Here is the direct link to 2 AM Chili. It’s great topped with sour cream, shredded cheese, oyster crackers, and chopped onions. Enjoy!

Replaced my car battery with an AMG battery
I had to replace my car battery recently. My car is a model year 2019 and now it’s 2024, so I believe the OEM battery that came with the car when it was new was at the end of it’s life. I used a 10mm socket to take off the terminals and a 13mm socket with extension to remove the mounting bracket. Then I replaced the new battery and put on some silicone grease before reinstalling the terminals.
